Hypercall, an options platform built on the Hyperliquid blockchain, has recorded $640 million in notional volume since launching on June 1, according to data shared with CoinDesk. More than 80% of that volume stems from S&P 500 options, reflecting increasing demand for blockchain-based access to traditional financial markets outside conventional trading hours.

The platform lists daily, weekly, and monthly expiries that trade around the clock, with current open interest sitting at approximately $49 million. Out of that total, $47 million is concentrated in S&P 500 index options. According to founder Jake Sylvestre, trading activity is heavily concentrated in contracts expiring the next day.

Market Structure and Settlement

Hypercall contracts use a $1 multiplier, making each index point worth $1 at settlement. Contracts are settled in the USDC stablecoin against the average price over the final 30 minutes of Hyperliquid's S&P 500 perpetual futures. Market makers quoting prices on the platform hedge their exposure using Hyperliquid's perpetual futures, enabling continuous pricing even when cash equity markets are closed over weekends.

While the venue's figures remain small compared with established crypto options platforms like Deribit, the activity underscores growing appetite among crypto-native traders for derivatives tied to traditional equities and indices.

Single-Name Equities and Broad Offerings

Beyond index options, Hypercall lists derivatives on various single-name equities. Options on SpaceX, Nvidia, Micron Technology, and SanDisk account for over half of all platform trades, followed by companies such as Apple, Microsoft, Meta, and Alibaba, alongside bitcoin and ether.
