Key facts
- Tokens are 1:1 backed by real shares held for investors under Article 8 of the Uniform Commercial Code.
- Holders receive dividends and, where applicable, voting rights, with underlying shares not being lent out.
- Ripple Prime and RQD* are supporting the infrastructure, while Aave founder Stani Kulechov noted future lending and collateral uses.
"Tokenized stocks should give investors more than a price on a wrapper that tracks a stock and is only offered offshore," said Carlos Domingo, Securitize’s chairman and CEO. The launch follows a five-year innovation exemption granted by the SEC for onchain trading of fully backed stock tokens.
