Ripple and Stripe-owned Privy are partnering to let developers embed XRP Ledger wallets directly into payments applications, according to a release shared with CoinDesk. The integration allows customers to transfer XRP, the dollar-pegged RLUSD stablecoin, and other network assets without requiring users to set up separate crypto wallets or manage secret keys.

The infrastructure permits AI agents and automated bots to hold funded wallets and automatically pay for online data and services. Privy's documentation notes that wallets operated from company servers can facilitate software-driven transactions through x402, a payment standard designed for buying access to data. RippleX Head of Engineering J. Ayo Akinyele stated on X that the network has processed more than 13 million agent payments through x402, representing roughly 25% of ledger activity. Cumulative figures from the XRPL AI Hub, operated by t54, recorded more than 14.3 million cumulative transactions across 169 registered merchants.

Account Funding Requirements

Despite the streamlined setup for end users, embedded wallets still require initial funding to become active. Privy documentation specifies that each new XRP Ledger account must receive the network's minimum reserve of 1 XRP, meaning someone must supply the token to activate the account even if the customer intends to use only stablecoin payments. Ripple began rolling out developer tools for these payments in June and expanded the kit in September to support payment standards developed by Stripe and Tempo.
